Business World – Wharton Global Youth: Christine I wish

Wharton Global Youth: Christine, I wish you all the best with ScolioBend especially for the January launch, and thank you for participating in Future of the Business World. When I went to Future of the Business World, I loved it because I realized that my idea and vision for this occasional mobile app could translate into a business and build a very large scolio community. I wanted to be able to connect with scoliosis patients and help each of them. So I’m going to offer a lot of feedback and opportunities to contribute, as well as some community building activities for quality impact. Today’s guest, Christine Sinn, is a high school senior from Virginia, USA. Christine is in the process of launching her first app, ScolioBend, to streamline the treatment process for young patients with scoliosis. I am looking forward to hearing the different opinions of my users and offering different responses and connectivity options so that I can improve my app and help as many scoliosis patients as possible. We’ll start with a phone app, but I hope to include some guidelines and tools for everyday life with scoliosis. The point: ScolioBend is a company that provides resources to scoliosis patients during the scoliosis treatment process. I was very disappointed when I found out I had scoliosis because I had to give up my dream of becoming a tennis player, but I didn’t realize it would allow me to make another trip to where I live now. I want people to know that scoliosis is not a dead end, it’s just the beginning of its potential. We also hope to work together in the future to publish guides and resources for living with scoliosis, and to begin our community-building activities. Wharton Global Youth: You started thinking about starting a business last summer when you enrolled in our online course about the future of business. Last year, Christine Sinn, our guest on this month’s Future of Business podcast, gave some timely advice on how to think like an entrepreneur in times of crisis. Sinn: There are support groups for people with scoliosis, but there is no app that provides emotional and physical support for patients with scoliosis. That’s what Christine did, using her months at home to learn how to program and develop a new app for scoliosis patients. Meaning: when I tell people I’ve created an app for my phone, people often think of self-taught programming.
