Can Help Teachers – Some of the challenges teachers face

Some of the challenges teachers face with concurrent instruction involve questions such as: “How can teachers equally engage, guide, and support groups of students who are both centered and at home? We know it’s not the best practice, but we at Learning Accelerator have put together some tips that we hope will help make this learning time a success. One tool we have found helpful in designing parallel classrooms is the Parallel Classroom Toolkit Model, a guide created by the Mendon-Upton Regional School District. In this guide, teachers will find additional resources and templates that can improve hybrid learning for their students. The Learning Accelerator continues to learn from educators and school systems across the country about what works and what doesn’t. Create opportunities for student self-determination. Concurrent learning doesn’t always have to be simultaneous. While simultaneous learning is new to most of us, the tips above are just the tip of the hat. They offer students different forms of interaction, such as reading lists, choice boards, and to-do lists. Click here to read all the details and a guide to free technology for teachers. After a year of these practices, we have learned the unknown, but we still have a lot to learn. Make the plan and content visible. Create a culture and community.
