David Horn, Andrew Sidlo Anthony Bennett and Paul Phillips have inspired young people for many years. In September this year they received the Silver Teacher Award for their life activities. Also this year the Ministry of Education is sponsoring two education awards: “For Lifetime Achievement” and “Outstanding New Teacher of the Year. Among them are my parents, Pam and Harry, and Victor Farr, who never had the opportunity to train qualified teachers, but who volunteered to run a local youth cooperative and gave a lot of advice and encouragement to young people in sports and art activities. Paul: I love both education and leadership, because I can make important changes for people and society. We asked them to tell us what teachers have changed their lives for the better and what they like about learning. To celebrate World Teachers’ Day, we supported the “Thank you Teacher” campaign and the launch of their new limited edition e-card “Thank you Teacher” designed by children’s artist Charlie McKesey. Although he was very strict, he was a very popular teacher who showed us a fantastic chemistry experience with a great sense of humor. At school, my favorite teacher was Miss Duffield, who taught English at Whitchurch High School. Anthony: I was lucky to have many good teachers – Mr. Brophy from Abbey Road Elementary School, who actively encouraged me to produce my own shows. If you want to show how much you appreciate a teacher, send an e-card with a thank you today. I like to teach for many reasons, but there are two that stand out. The second reason I like to teach is because of the difficulty. It gives me great pleasure to help young people. What’s more, I have contributed to the economic recovery of the coastal city – a university that contributes more than £8 million, now a university that contributes more than £65 million, but we still have a fully inclusive approach to every student. The best schools recognize this and create a culture where teachers share experiences and learn from each other.
