Conti’s understanding of community and the need for a support system is deeply ingrained in her work with educators and students. In conversations with educators, Conti describes the piano as an old friend who is present in happy and nostalgic moments, always filling us with emotion. A long career as a soloist has allowed her to develop a hands-on approach to working with students. Conti approaches keyboard pedagogy when teaching piano playing, but always talks about the piece itself and its historical context. Her top priority is to help students develop their technical skills and improve their interpretive abilities by strictly following the composers’ instructions. Mirian Conti is on the faculty of the Juilliard School’s evening department in New York City.
