Sing a song – There are many songs to help students

Sing a song – There are many songs to help students memorize the multiplication table and more. Flashcards are fun – Use flashcards to help your students practice words. Manipulatives – Don’t forget the traditional math manipulatives you can use with worksheets. Letter Creation – For young students who are just learning letters, using chenille yarn to create alphabet letters is a fun and practical way to reinforce what they have learned. Writing – Instead of paper and pencil, use shaving cream, rice or salt to draw letters or words. Letter Search – Have your students go around the room and try to find objects that begin with a certain letter. Spelling – Ball pit – Ball pit? Yes! Label the balloons with spelling words before throwing them into the pit. Fishing for Hidden Words – Make a magnetic fishing rod and catch words with magnetic strips. Language BINGO – Play adjective BINGO using BINGO cards with adjectives in the boxes instead of numbers. Card games – Grab a pack of cards and use them for fractions, multiplication, addition and subtraction. I have made a list of ideas for classroom activities that are not worksheets, but have great educational value. Students can “fish out” the word they want and mark it on their word list. Counting bears, cereal, candy, and the like are always good tools for math lessons. Whatever type of lessons you choose, they should be fun and engaging for students. Learning blocks – A bag of bricks or LEGO blocks can be used to illustrate fractions or for measurement lessons. Some cubes can be used in math games or as independent manipulatives to practice different math skills.
