World Language Activities – Join other language teachers in

Join other language teachers in ACTFL 2020 Virtual to learn more about how to engage your students in remote and socially isolated classrooms. Whether you teach Spanish, French, Italian or any other language in the world, you will likely need interactive language activities such as games, songs and manipulations to keep your students interested. Here you will find 5 interactive world language events to help your students show interest during their distance learning or in a physically remote classroom. Collaborate with other language teachers and learn how to engage your students in the ACTFL 2020 Virtual program. Encourage your students to use these free, printed language labels in the classroom or at home to help immerse themselves in the learning process. Showing and telling is not only a great way to practice your language skills, but also a way to help students communicate remotely. Labels are available for the most common articles in the classroom and at home, in Spanish, French, German or any other language. Fortunately, there are many other ways to make your students excited about learning the language. You can easily do this in a remote classroom with a zoom or in person without having to move your students from their assigned places. Interactive Flippity technology and an extensive library of activities help students focus and enjoy themselves. Students can also be encouraged to fill out their own labels to make learning fun. For distance learning, students can use the “My Free Bingo Cards” feature, which creates virtual bingo cards that can be played on screen or printed. Another popular game that works well for distance learning or social learning is Pop Up, developed by Spanish teacher Anne-Marie Chase. Many classic games such as Uno, Go-Fish, Bingo or Simon Speak can be adapted to your language. Whether you teach at home or at school, ask students to choose a subject for their presentation in class. Try to play a few card games or increase the space between students.
